This double special issue of IJTM has been devoted to Africa, covering a wide rangeof African dimensions and focus and countries specific cases. The objectives are toprovide an overview of the important role of knowledge and technology management inachieving Sustainable Development (SD) in Africa.The special issue also includes the best contributions presented during the latestknowledge management regional conference held in Cairo 11–13 June 2007, organisedby the Global Development Network, the African Capacity Building Foundation and theWorld Bank Institute focusing entitled ‘Knowledge management as an enabler of changeand innovation: a conference for policymakers and practitioners’.This special issue represents the outcome of many comprehensive researchprogrammes undertaken in different countries in Africa and other parts of the worldduring the last two years and written by more than twenty international experts inthe field.
