Objectives
This course has been structured to develop your understanding of the operational and strategic dimensions of organisations. It is to provide a sound grounding in the terminology of operations management and an overall perspective of these terminologies within the context of an organisation. The course will develop a number of tools of analysis through which participants can analyse and interpret the role and functions of business, analysing the operations internal and external environments.
What Would you Learn
- Participants are expected to be able to demonstrate a basic understanding that Operations Management is one of the three major functions of any organisation.
- Understand what is design in Operations Management as well as describe all the sets of considerations involved in designing a product and/or service as well as the processes that produce them.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the difference between terms such as purchasing, physical distribution, logistics, materials management, and supply chain management.
- Understand the contribution of advanced supply chain management to operational success.
